Local Secrets: How To Find the Best Restaurants in Hollywood
With thousands of restaurants in Los Angeles and many of them located in Hollywood, it can be a struggle to figure out which one to go to.
With tourists flocking every corner of downtown Hollywood, avoiding tourist destinations and restaurants is probably a high priority on your list (even if you are a tourist). Although some of the best restaurants are right downtown where the tourists are swarming, they probably don’t even realize that some of the best places to eat in Hollywood are right next to them.
If you need a dining guide to Hollywood as a new renter, you’ve come to the right place. If you’re looking for the best restaurants in Hollywood, we’ve got you covered!
Musso & Frank Grill
For starters, Musso & Frank Grill has been running since 1919. THat’s over 100 years of making some of the best food in Hollywood.
Don’t believe us? It’s time you try it out for yourself. Whether you’re looking for a lighter fare just to snack on a few things or want a full meal of comfort food, we have it all.
Grab a craft cocktail to pair it with one of our divine appetizers as you get served in one of the many red leather booths all around the restaurant.
If you want to find yourself sitting in one of the luxurious booths on a Friday night, we suggest you put your name down soon.
Yamashiro
Another restaurant that has been serving delicious cuisine for over 100 years is Yamashiro. Yamashiro offers traditional Japanese dishes right in the heart of the Hollywood Hills.
Yamashiro is known for more than just its delicious food. The architecture and design of the restaurant are key components to the dining experience here. There is a large courtyard, a beautiful entrance to the restaurant, and a 600-year old ancient pagoda.
Every Thursday night there is also a Night Market where different food vendors, live music, and bars come together to serve the community some of the best of Hollywood.
Salt’s Cure
Salt’s Cure has a little of everything. If you’re anything like us and pretty indecisive when it comes to what type of meal you want, this is the place for you.
From oatmeal griddle pancakes to have during your boozy Sunday brunch to the pork loin, the food options are pretty out of this world.
Whether you sit on the front patio or in the homey spacious area inside, you’ll fall in love with this place and find yourself here at least once a week (that is, if you have the money for it).
El Floridita Restaurant
Ready for some live Latin music? El Floridita will transport you out of Hollywood into little Havana with some of the best Cuban fares around.
Grab a mojito while you listen to some of the best live music and munch on some classic Cuban cuisine like ropa vieja.
If you haven’t read about this restaurant before, you would walk right past it on the street. Located in a shopping strip mall, it’s pretty tucked away and hidden considering it is one of the best restaurants to eat in Hollywood.
Be sure to dress your best since you may run into Jennifer Lopez or Mick Jagger also dining in El Floridita Restaurant.
Banh Oui
Set apart from some of the other recommendations on here for where you should eat in Hollywood is Banh Oui. Instead of a sit-down restaurant with leather booths or live music, Banh Oui offers some of the best Vietnamese sandwiches to grab and go for lunch.
Grab yourself a Banh mi and some chicken wings to take back home to work at your desk or even bring back to the office.
Before you even take a step into the restaurant, your mouth will be watering from some of the pictures they post online. You’ll probably have a hard time narrowing down between the shrimp, pork belly, or steak Banh mi sandwiches after seeing them all.
Whichever you get, you won’t be disappointed.
Providence
Once again a bit different than the aforementioned Banh Oui, Providence offers a three-hour tasting menu in one of the most upscale restaurants in Hollywood.
If you are looking for more than just a meal, but rather an experience, Providence is the place to go.
It’s not just three hours because you are tasting so many food pairings, but you’ll want to stare at the extravagant presentation as well as take some photos for the mems while you’re at it.
If you go for the wine pairings, you’ll be spending even more time trying out the different flavors. Not to mention, you’ll be dropping a few more hundred dollars because of it.
But, we promise it’s worth it.
Once you finish your delicious meal at Providence, you’re not leaving empty-handed even if you finish everything. You’ll be sent home with some fine chocolates and a fresh-baked pastry. Talk about some really good customer service!
Gwen
Have you ever been to a restaurant with its own butcher shop located right inside the restaurant itself? Well, if you head on over to Gwen, you can say yes to this question.
At first thought, you may think this is one of the most expensive places since it is all fresh meat. But if you opt for the $85 five-course tasting menu, you won’t necessarily be breaking the bank. Emphasis on the necessarily – just depends on how you look at it!
You’ll be dining on some of the best slices of meat in the area in a beautiful dining room with a shiny chandelier sitting front and center.
P.S. Don’t come here if you’re a vegetarian, pescetarian, or anything of the sort. It may make you a bit sad with how much meat they have to offer.
On a different note, if you love meat, you have to go here.
Stout
On the simpler side of the many restaurants in Hollywood, Stout is a go-to place for many locals (and tourists). The menu is short and simple, but delicious to say the least. The place itself doesn’t stand out, but that’s partly why it is a staple for so many locals in the area.
If you haven’t ever been, try out their quinoa burger or one of their non-vegetarian burgers like the Six Weeker (think: carmelized onions, fig jam, and juicy meat).
Once you try it once, you’ll be adding it to the list of your Hollywood staples as well.
Oh and the best part? It’s open until 4 am every night so if you ever find yourself stumbling home, well, you get the picture. Go get yourself a juicy, perfectly cooked burger as a midnight (or 2 am) snack.
Maybe even top your night off with a night cap with one of the many beers we have on tap. Or if you aren’t here at 4am, enjoy a few our our beers on tap with a burger of your choice!
25 Degrees
Not only is the name of this restaurant attractive, but the food and atmosphere are as well.
Similar to Stout, 25 Degrees is open 24 hours to curb all of your burger cravings at any time of day or night.
You can choose to build your own delicious burger or stick to a malt shake as a more refreshing snack. Don’t want just a plain malt shake? Make it spiked to spice things up a bit.
If burgers aren’t your thing, fear not! Try out a bacon-wrapped hot dog instead. Whatever you choose to get here, you’ll make it a point to come here after every night out on the town to fill up your belly before heading home.
