HOLLYWOOD DAZE is a place to discover (and re-discover) the great City of Hollywood. We like cocktails, creativity, shopping, and little events that pop up spontaneously, art and all things culture, intense fitness but also cheeseburgers — we assume you do too.
Join us on our mission to unearth all the wonderful secrets that Hollywood keeps, as well as the pop songs it sings aloud.
With the new year firmly underway, a lot of us are thinking about how to stay fit. Whether you’re a complete workout newbie, or your BMI sets off the “lunk alarm” all the way from the Planet Fitness parking lot, living at El Centro’s Hollywood apartments has plenty of options that make breaking a sweat just a little bit easier.
El Centro’s Hollywood lofts come with plenty of in-house amenities that allow you to exercise without ever having to find your car keys. A fully equipped gym provides all the equipment necessary for any variety of “reps” you might need. (Look, you already sound like a pro.) Or if burpees and bench presses aren’t your

If you do want to venture out, you won’t have to go far. With more CrossFit studios than you could shake a kettlebell at, the only people with more access to “boot camps” are out-of-control teens. Deuce Backlot is particularly well-regarded, and it takes beginners and seasoned warriors alike. For the Rolls Royce of gym experiences, Equinox West Hollywood has all the gear and so-very-now classes to get you going, though, let’s admit it, we’re really just there for those eucalyptus-scented towels. Or, for the more adventurous, literally run away and join the circus at Cirque School, where you can take classes on trapeze, aerial contortion, and one that’s mysteriously just called “Rope.”
For the outdoor lovers, Hollywood has a spoil of riches in parks, hikes, and alfrescoactivities. Nearby Runyon Canyon offers unparalleled hikes with views to match. Positioned right below the Hollywood Sign is the Lake Hollywood Park, where our four-legged friends, among others, can fulfill their exercise quotient. Griffith Park offers a variety of hikes, too, as well as facilities for golf, tennis, ultimate frisbee, and soccer. You can even ride horses or visit an entire zoo and botanical garden. It’s a park that is bigger than some small towns—and often with more to do.
If you’re feeling like staying home but still want to squeeze in a workout, make sure to add the El Centro fitness classes to your calendar. Every Tuesday head to the spin class from 7PM-8PM to meet some neighbors while breaking a sweat or begin your Sunday on a peaceful note and head to our weekly yoga class every Sunday morning from 10AM-11AM.
With so many ways to stay active while living at El Centro, your Fitbit is going to need a Fitbit. Or just take it easy and work your way through all the options slowly. But rest assured, this is only a small sampling; you can be certain that your physical routine will be anything but routine.
