HOLLYWOOD DAZE is a place to discover (and re-discover) the great City of Hollywood. We like cocktails, creativity, shopping, and little events that pop up spontaneously, art and all things culture, intense fitness but also cheeseburgers — we assume you do too.
Join us on our mission to unearth all the wonderful secrets that Hollywood keeps, as well as the pop songs it sings aloud.
El Centro, a new luxury residential building right off Hollywood & Vine, is at the center of everything. Just one day in one of El Centro’s Hollywood apartments for rent will provide an constellation of riches. And how do you choose what amenities and local perks to take advantage of on any given day? We say, “Why choose?” Here’s how you can do it all.
Groundwork | 1501 North Cahuenga Boulevard
First, wake up to the sun greeting you through the huge windows at your new Hollywood home. From there, you can sip a coffee next to one of El Centro’s many courtyard gardens or leave the espresso pulling to the experts at Groundwork, where the coffee is “certified organic, fairly traded, and ethically sourced,” and the pastries—trust us—are delicious. We’re always looking for a way to put that energy to good use, and the fully equipped gym & spa are the ideal destinations for anyone lucky enough to live at El Centro. You can perfect your sun salutation with a morning yoga session and finish by sweating it out in the sauna. Or grab a jog in Runyon Canyon. Either way, the gorgeous 44-foot saltwater pool on El Centro’s roof is there to help you cool off afterward.
Hollywood Farmers’ Market | Ivar Avenue & Selma Avenue
Feeling hungry? Fortunately, the Hollywood Farmers’ Market is practically in your backyard, allowing you to do everything from putting together a quick weekend lunch to hosting the most epic of dinner parties. (Although it’s only open on Sundays, we promise you can score a week’s worth of the right ingredients in a short period.) And once your provisions are procured, there’s no better place to enjoy a bite than El Centro’s outdoor grilling area and lounge, complete with a 90-inch television, where you and your friends can pick up a few tips from Top Chef.
Little Dom's | 2128 Hillhurst Avenue
Ostrich Farm | 1525 West Sunset Boulevard
Of course, if you’d rather let someone else do the cooking, nearby Los Feliz has plenty of the hippest and most eminently Instagrammable restaurants in Los Angeles. For scrumptious convenience, just follow our lead and head to the classic Italian haunt Little Dom’s, where you can feast on treats like the homemade linguine carbonara and wood-oven pizzas from Chef Brandon Boudet. Ostrich Farm, another of our favorites, features perfectly executed New American fare such as handmade potato gnocchi and bowls of sweet potatoes, swiss chard, quinoa, grilled halloumi, and chimichurri.
Griffith Observatory | 2800 East Observatory Road
To wind down, we suggest shaking up a cocktail to curl up with next to El Centro’s cozy outdoor fire pit. Meeting up with friends for an evening at Griffith Observatory can be fun, too, because it has phenomenal views of celestial bodies (and the ever-present Hollywood Sign). And it’s open until 10 pm every day of the week except Monday.
Back in your apartment, you can tuck in knowing that you’ve made the most of your 24-hour adventure in and around your El Centro home.
